Weeks after the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Inc Elon Musk hinted at entering the Indian automobile market by next year, the country’s richest state Maharashtra has invited the US-based electric-vehicle manufacturer to discuss the same.
Maharashtra’s environment and tourism minister Aaditya Thackeray, in a tweet on Thursday, mentioned that he along with industries minister Subhash Desai held a video call with executives from Tesla to invite them to the state.43
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, earlier this month, said on Twitter to enter the Indian market next year, in reply to a post with a photograph of a T-shirt having message “India wants Tesla.”
Electric Vehicle manufacturer Tesla’s entry into India, which is Asia’s third-largest economy, could come at a time when PM Narendra Modi is proactively focusing on promoting the use of EVs.
