The fitness check of commercial vehicles that do not have High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) has been banned in the ARTO office. Under this new development, it is now mandatory to install HSRP before getting the vehicles checked for fitness.
The mandate to apply HSRP in private and commercial vehicles was implemented a year ago, but seeing the continuous negligence, the department has finally taken a rigid step in this regard. Under this mandate, commercial vehicles coming to the ARTO office for fitness check will first be inspected for HSRP.
Additionally, applications of vehicles not having HSRP will not be accepted. In the last 15 days, over 100 vehicle owners were returned due to non-installation of HSRP.
According to the department, there are over 40 thousand commercial vehicles registered in the district. Out of these 40 thousand vehicles, more than 20 percent do not have HSRP. This number is even higher when it comes to private vehicles. To curb this, the department will soon conduct checking for the same.
