Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) Bir Singh Budiyal recently informed that fireworks licenses will only be issued after obtaining NOC from the fire department. The aforementioned mandate was discussed during a meeting between officials and businessmen held at the Rishiparna auditorium in Collectorate. The meeting was conducted to discuss the allocation of firecrackers shops on Deepawali, conditions for setting up these shops as well as necessary precautions to be taken.

The ADM FR instructed all the SDMs to set safe locations, follow fire safety standards before issuing licenses for fireworks. It is decided upon that license should only be allotted to places where fire vehicles can reach easily. There should not be any inflammable material in and around the store. The shop should be under the roof of a pucca building, not in a tight space and between electrical wires, as well as no sale of materials other than the sale of firecrackers should take place.

The ADM emphasized the use of masks, face covers, social distancing, making circles for customers, prohibition on smoking, and other flammable substances, to curb the spread of COVID-19. All the shop owners selling firecrackers need to paste a copy of their license at their shop. Water tankers will also be arranged around the places of sale of firecrackers.
