Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar inspected a nearly 5 km proposed trek route from Shahanshahi Ashram in Dehradun to Jharipani in Mussoorie on Sunday. This proposed route will be jointly developed by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board Dehradun and Municipal Council Mussoorie.
Emphasizing the need for community participation for cleanliness, Tourism Secretary Dilip Javalkar said, “To raise awareness and increase public participation for the cleanliness drive, UTDB will be organizing an event on January 31. We will develop a public toilet and a souvenir cum trekking equipment shop in the area.”
Jawalkar further talked with trekkers and cyclists on the way and stated that public participation is necessary for maintaining the cleanliness of the route. Some people were registered during the visit on Sunday.
Commenting on the proposal, District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) Dehradun Jaspal Chauhan said, “It is our duty that if we are walking on this trek, then we should also keep it clean.”
