Schools for students of classes 6th to 9th and 11th will be reopened in Uttarakhand from Monday, February 8 onwards. Chief Secretary Omprakash had recently issued an SOP regarding the reopening of schools in the state. The key pointers of this SOP are as follows:

  • Students who wish to go to school will be needing mandatory written permission from their parents to attend classes.
  • Students and the school staff will not be permitted to enter the school premises without a mask. Moreover, handwash, hand sanitization, and thermal scanning will be compulsory at the school gate.
  • If any student or school staff is found to have symptoms, such as cough, cold, fever, he/she will be sent home after receiving first aid.
  • Before reopening, all the schools will be thoroughly sanitized by Sunday, February 7. The sanitization process will be executed after every shift and on a regular basis.
  • There will be a different commencement and concluding schedule for all the classes, ensuring utmost safety. Schools having higher student numbers will run classes in two shifts.
  • Students who do not have the facility to study online will be called to the school on a priority basis.
  • School management will not force students to come to school. Only those students whose parents send them with written consent will be allowed to attend school.
  • For students who wish to study online instead of attending school, schools will continue the option of online teaching.
  • A nodal officer will be appointed in every school. The officer will bear the responsibility to keep a check on social distancing protocols, as well as of immediately informing the administration in case of infection.
  • According to the Chief Secretary, DMs will have the freedom to make decisions as per the situation in various districts. If there’s an infection in any school, the DM will be the one to decide to shut the school partially or completely.
