Given the increasing cases of Mucormycosis, commonly knows as black fungus, in Uttarakhand, the state government has declared it as an epidemic as well as a notifiable disease, along with COVID-19. Health Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey issued orders today regarding the same.
Declaring Mucormycosis as an epidemic in the entire state, the authorities notified that treatment for Mucormycosis will now be given, along with COVID-19. A total of 61 patients having black fungus have been admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh. Four patients have succumbed to black fungus so far. Cases of Mucormycosis are increasing daily in the state.
