A significant fire has swept through the core zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve and National Park, damaging approximately 50 hectares of forest. The affected area includes crucial wildlife breeding zones within the Kalagarh and Dhikala ranges, where human entry is strictly prohibited.

Deputy Director of the reserve, D Nayak, reported that the fire broke out between the hills of the Kalagarh and Dhikala ranges and has been burning since Friday. However, forest department officials have managed to bring the fire under control. “The wildlife is safe,” Nayak confirmed, adding that forest department teams remain on high alert.

The core zone, critical for wildlife conservation, experienced substantial damage, yet efforts to protect the fauna appear to have been successful. The fire department continues to monitor the situation to prevent further outbreaks.
