Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across Uttarakhand, causing widespread destruction and road closures. From Kumaon to Garhwal, relentless rainfall has led to landslides, flooding, and debris accumulation, severely affecting transportation and daily life.

In Uttarkashi district, intermittent rains have resulted in the closure of the Yamunotri National Highway near Dabarkot and the Gangotri National Highway near Helgugad due to landslides. Continuous drizzling in the Yamuna Valley, including Yamunotri Dham, has exacerbated the situation, with efforts to clear the highways halted due to ongoing rainfall.

The Karnaprayag area is also experiencing continuous downpours, leading to the closure of the Badrinath Highway at Kameda near Gauchar due to debris. Roads in Karnaprayag are blocked at multiple points, and waterlogging is widespread. Overflowing Alaknanda and Pindar rivers have heightened fears among nearby residents.

Mussoorie has been drenched in continuous rain since late at night, accompanied by dense fog and a drop in temperature. Rishikesh is also experiencing persistent rainfall.

In Devprayag, debris and stones falling at Dhaulidhar and Mahadev Chatti on the highway have resulted in road closures. JCB machines are deployed to clear the debris, but continuous landslides are hindering progress. Traffic has been diverted from Gaja Chaka and Maletha, with heavy vehicles halted in Devprayag. New Tehri has also been experiencing heavy rain and dense fog since Saturday morning.

In addition, SH-77 Ranipokhari Road is closed due to debris, and SH-19 is blocked at multiple points near Kumalda Road. NH-94 is closed in bypass and Bagaddhar, while NH-58 is also shut down. Laxman Jhula Kandi Road is completely closed. School children, caught in the heavy rain, had to return home midway as holidays were declared, causing significant inconvenience.

Tehri Ghansali is also experiencing heavy rainfall, raising water levels in the Balganga and Bhilangana rivers. Electricity supply has been disrupted in over a dozen villages, including Balganga valley. In Pauri, heavy rain on Saturday caused a road embankment near the Agriculture Department on Pauri-Srinagar Road to collapse, burying 4 to 5 parked two-wheelers under the debris. Efforts are underway to retrieve the vehicles.

The relentless rain across Uttarakhand continues to disrupt daily life, with authorities working tirelessly to clear roads and ensure the safety of residents.
