The Kumaon police range has taken a bold initiative to prioritize the health of its officers and personnel with the launch of the ‘Fit Uttarakhand Police’ campaign. Under this drive, overweight police staff as well as those suffering from hypertension and diabetes across all six districts of Kumaon will be identified and monitored.
Every Friday, these identified personnel will participate in dedicated parades at the police lines. To support this effort, the post of the police line Reserve Inspector (RI) has now been formally designated as Police Health Welfare Officer by Kumaon IG Ridhim Aggarwal. District SSPs have been instructed to compile lists of affected personnel and forward them to the RI.
The health program will include scheduled physical activities, customized diet plans, and nutritionist-led guidance on calorie control. Serious health cases such as cancer, heart disease, or organ failure will receive priority leave, and detailed medical records will be maintained by the department. Circle Officers (COs) at the police lines will personally engage with affected officers or their families to ensure ongoing support.
To further safeguard the well-being of the force, police personnel requiring emergency treatment will be assisted through life-saving funds available at district, range, and headquarters levels. They will also be referred to top-tier hospitals as needed, with district-level officers directly coordinating with hospital authorities.
SSPs from Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Almora have been tasked with submitting detailed lists of personnel battling serious illnesses. This health push aligns with the Chief Minister’s vision of a Healthy Uttarakhand and a Strong India, with ‘Fit Uttarakhand Police’ emerging as a key pillar of this broader mission.
