Renowned Indian conglomerate Tata Group is set to establish an electronic city in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, in collaboration with Taiwanese companies. This ambitious project, slated to begin construction by mid-2025, is expected to generate employment for over 10,000 youths.

A 350-acre site in Khurpiya Farm has been allocated for the development. Tata Group officials, along with a team from Taiwanese partners, have conducted preliminary inspections of the site. The Taiwanese representatives are scheduled to visit Uttarakhand again in January 2025 to finalize plans.

Secretary of Planning R Meenakshi Sundaram confirmed the project’s progress, following its proposal at the Global Investors Conference last year. Rahul Jain has been appointed as the nodal officer for the project, and a series of discussions have already taken place between Tata’s electronics chief, Ranveer Thakur, and senior Uttarakhand officials, including Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar.

In addition to the electronic city, Tata Group has committed to establishing a skill development center in the state. This center will train local youth to meet the industry’s demands, with potential collaboration with the Singapore government for skill development programs. The center aims to provide specialized training in electronics, aligning with the needs of the upcoming electronic city.

The project is in its final stages of planning, with the construction set to open new employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the region’s economic development.
