Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, visited Rashtrapati Niketan on Rajpur Road on Tuesday to review the progress of beautification and development projects underway in preparation for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit scheduled between June 19 and 21.
During the President’s visit, she is expected to lay the foundation stone for an ultra-modern public park being developed over 132 acres within the Rashtrapati Niketan campus. The park is planned to be completed within one year and will later be opened for public use.
Formerly known as the Rashtrapati Ashiana, Rashtrapati Niketan spans 21 acres and will be officially opened to the public on June 24. The heritage site will feature a curated collection of artworks and scenic attractions such as the Lily Pond, Rockery Pond, and Rose Garden, expected to be major highlights for visitors.
In addition, Rashtrapati Tapovan, another segment of the presidential estate covering 19 acres, will also be opened to the general public. Tapovan will offer serene spaces for reflection and meditation, including native tree canopies, winding trails, wooden bridges, and quiet corners designed for contemplation.
Governor Singh directed the construction agencies and concerned officials to ensure the timely completion of all preparations. He emphasized that the President’s initiative is a significant gift to the people of Uttarakhand and symbolizes her deep affection and connection with the state and its citizens.
He also reviewed the details of the work currently in progress and interacted with the officials overseeing the development.

Murugesan, Additional Principal Anshuman, Governor’s Secretary Ravinath Raman, Director of the President’s Secretariat Swati Shahi, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Director General Information Bansidhar Tiwari, and SSP Dehradun Ajay Singh.
