Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, home examinations will not be conducted in this academic session in the government schools in Uttarakhand. Students from the 5th to 9th class and of the 11th class will be promoted to the next standard without taking the exam. On the other hand, private schools will have the freedom to take the exams.

According to Education Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, only board examinations will be conducted this year. He also stated that there might not be any winter holidays in high schools and inter colleges this year, as schools were closed for more than eight months due to the corona epidemic.

Informing further, the Education Secretary said that students in government schools have already faced enough challenges during the coronavirus period, and it would be unfair to put additional pressure on them by conducting examinations this year. Students of 9th and 11th standard are serious about their board exams, and therefore, they will be promoted directly to their respective next classes. The proposal regarding the aforementioned is in pipeline. Once approved, the orders for the same will be issued.
