Uttarakhand will be getting 1.13 lakh doses of the Covishield vaccine during the first phase of coronavirus vaccination today. This comes after the instructions issued by the Central Government to the Serum Institute of India (SII) to provide vaccine to the state. The vaccine will be delivered via flight from Pune by Wednesday evening.

In the first stage of vaccination, data of 87588 health workers have been prepared and uploaded on the Covin portal. Depending on the vaccine availability, 50 thousand health workers will be vaccinated in Uttarakhand in the first phase, and 10% doses of vaccine will be kept in reserve. For the remaining health workers, the vaccines will be procured from the center.

Dehradun and Haldwani will be the first to get the Covishield vaccine in walk-in coolers made at the state level. From here onwards, the vaccine will be transported to the districts by vaccination van, and 317 cold chain points have been identified in the state for the same. The walk-in coolers will keep the vaccine at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
