Dehradun-based NGO Flora Saviors commenced their project titled Reviving Doon Valley, where they planted 50 saplings. The project was launched by the Founder of Flora Saviors, Sandeep Singh Chauhan at the Drop-in Cafe on Old Mussorie road.

The main aim of the project is to plant 10,000 trees in a timeframe of 100 days.

The project was inaugurated by renowned Singer Priyanka Meher, Singer & Rapper Mayank Rongpaz, National Hockey Player Kamalpreet Singh, and National Handball Player Rekha Rajput.

During the occasion, the saplings of Kaner, Silver Oak, Gulmohar, Arjun, Jamun, Bamboo, Guava, among many more, were planted.

Speaking about the project, Sandeep Chauhan said, “Since the last 15 years, I have seen a gradual change in the weather of Doon Valley. The city, which was known for its light summers and heavy rains, now witnesses temperatures over 42 degrees Celsius. The city that had fewer fans now has AC in almost every household. All these factors were bothering me, so I determined to revive the lost green cover and beauty of Doon valley.”

Also present were RJ Aakriti Thapa, Naman Bhandari, Prakshep Bisht, Vineet Yadav, Anjali Thapa, Jasleen Kaur, Nitin Bist, Ajeet Porwal, Vishal, Sourabh Mani, the team of Million Daughters Foundation and Building Dreams Foundation.
