Electricity consumers in Uttarakhand will soon receive their electricity bills via SMS, thanks to a new initiative by Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). This move aims to enhance the accessibility of billing information for consumers across the state.
To facilitate this, UPCL will embark on a campaign to update the mobile numbers of consumers. This initiative is part of UPCL’s broader strategy to leverage online services for improved consumer connectivity and increased revenue collection.
In a statement, UPCL Managing Director Anil Kumar announced that the corporation achieved a revenue collection of ₹819 crore in May, surpassing the target of ₹791 crore. Kumar commended the efforts of the UPCL officers and directed them to organize mega camps and block-wise recovery camps to ensure revenue targets are met. He emphasized the need for timely action against pending bills, instructing officers to issue notices and pursue recoveries diligently.
Kumar highlighted the current communication gap, noting that many consumers do not receive their billing information on their mobile phones. He stressed the importance of extending online service benefits to the maximum number of consumers to improve service quality and enhance revenue through digital mediums.
To address consumer grievances, UPCL will organize mega camps, where consumers can present their electricity-related complaints for prompt resolution. Kumar urged all consumers to take advantage of these camps to ensure their issues are addressed swiftly and efficiently.
