Widespread rainfall and thunderstorms expected across all districts; Char Dham pilgrims advised to prepare for cold weather.

After a brief period of dry weather, Uttarakhand is bracing for a four-day spell of rainfall starting Tuesday, April 29. According to the latest update from the Meteorological Department, while the state will remain dry today, rain showers will begin tomorrow in select districts and gradually spread to cover the entire state by Thursday.

On Tuesday, rainfall is expected to commence in the districts of Pithoragarh, Champawat, and Nainital. By Wednesday, the rain is predicted to extend to 12 districts, with Haridwar being the only exception. On Thursday, all 13 districts of Uttarakhand are likely to experience rainfall, a trend that is expected to continue into Friday, May 2.

The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy cloud cover during this period. Residents have been advised to stay indoors during stormy weather and to seek shelter in safe places. Farmers have been specifically cautioned to secure their harvested crops to prevent weather-related damage.

Rainfall is expected to vary in intensity across the state. On Wednesday, scattered showers are forecasted in 10 districts, while Champawat and Nainital districts may experience widespread rain. A similar pattern will continue on Thursday and Friday, with some districts seeing isolated showers and others experiencing more persistent rainfall.

The onset of rain coincides with the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra, which starts on April 30. Pilgrims travelling to the revered shrines — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — are advised to be prepared for extreme weather conditions.
