Uttarakhand Police has launched a large-scale verification campaign across all districts of the Kumaon division to identify foreign infiltrators and take appropriate legal action. Inspector General (IG) of Kumaon, Ridhim Aggarwal, stated that strict measures will be taken not only against infiltrators but also against any local residents found assisting them.
So far, five Pakistani nationals have been confirmed to be residing in the area on valid visas. One of them was deported after being found in possession of forged documents.
Following Operation Sindoor, IG Aggarwal emphasized during a press conference in Kashipur that the police is on active alert mode given the current national security situation. Instructions have been issued to all district police units to remain fully prepared for any eventuality. Mock drills will be conducted in various districts to enhance public awareness and preparedness in emergency situations.
IG Aggarwal also warned against spreading misinformation on social media. She directed police officers to monitor online platforms for misleading posts related to Operation Sindoor and to take immediate action against individuals responsible, including filing FIRs and detaining offenders overnight.
Additionally, increased surveillance is being implemented at religious places, and extensive patrolling is underway at roadways and railway stations. Police and paramilitary forces are also conducting joint mock drills across different areas.
Amidst the heightened tension and possibility of conflict, leave for police and medical personnel in Champawat district has been restricted. Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Devesh Chauhan have issued directives to grant leave only under exceptional circumstances, emphasizing sufficient manpower for border security, emergency drills, and medical readiness. All hospitals have been instructed to ensure availability of doctors and maintain adequate medical supplies.
