This Diwali festive season has given life to the overall business in the city market, which otherwise had been going through a crisis due to the COVID pandemic. On Thursday and Friday, Paltan Bazaar saw a boom in the number of customers due to Dhanteras falling on two days this year. Items such as pottery, clothes, electronic goods, vehicles, gift items, etc. saw a large number of buyers.
On the occasion of Dhanteras, special counters were put up, especially in shops selling utensils. Pottery shops were adorned for Dhanteras in the areas of Paltan Bazar, Moti Bazar, Pipalmandi, Dharampur, and pot traders had beautifully decorated their stalls for Dhanteras. By evening, these markets witnessed huge crowds, although business was less as compared to the previous years.
This time during the festival of lights, customers are seen keeping a distance from foreign-made electric Diwali lights. Instead, earthen diyas are being preferred by one and all. In the areas of Hanuman Chowk, Paltan Bazaar, Kotwali, etc., people were seen shopping for not only the usual clay-made diyas, but designer diyas as well.
