The first-ever child-friendly police station of Uttarakhand was inaugurated by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat recently. This Bal Mitra Police Station has been built in the Dalanwala Kotwali.

According to officials, the purpose behind having child-friendly police stations is to create a friendly and safe atmosphere for children who otherwise are scared of or get intimidated going to police stations.

Moreover, if any child is a part of a crime, he/she shouldn’t be afraid of the police and can come to such child-friendly police stations without hesitation.
It is noteworthy that to make children feel comfortable, the walls of the Bal Mitra Police Station are brightly colored and decorated with cartoons. Also, the police personnel will be dressed in casual clothes rather than their uniforms.

After Dalanwala, there are plans in the pipeline for more child-friendly police stations in the city.
