The number of COVID-positive students at IIT Roorkee has been rising continuously, taking the total tally to 89. Seeing this outbreak, four hostels on the campus have been sealed.
According to the institution’s media cell, the entry of students, who had gone to their homes, has been banned in the institute till the situation becomes normal. Moreover, the Ganga Bhawan Hostel has been converted into a Covid Care Center where the infected students are being treated.
At present, three thousand students are staying in the hostels. Out of this, 650 students have been tested for coronavirus so far. As per the institution’s rules, all the students, faculty, and staff who have been allowed entry into the campus have submitted their COVID negative report.
