Uttarakhand has been witnessing rainfall in several areas, including Dehradun, for the past few days. According to the Meteorological Department, there’s a possibility of heavy rain within the next 24 hours in five districts, including Dehradun. The department has also issued a red alert for Bageshwar, Nainital, Pauri, and Pithoragarh districts.

On the other hand, Yamunotri Highway has been closed due to debris near Khaneda bridge. For this, the authorities have deployed a JCB machine to clear the highway.

District Magistrate of Dehradun Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has directed the officers of all departments linked to disaster management to stay alert in their respective areas. He also instructed the sub-divisional magistrates to accumulate all the data related to disaster management from their particular places and furnish it to the disaster management department.

According to the DM, if anybody finds negligence at any level, the authorities will take strict action against the concerned officer. Furthermore, instructions have been given to keep a check on the settlements on the banks of the Rispana and Bindal rivers in Dehradun.

Apart from this, the DM informed about making arrangements to bring those living on the river banks to safer places when the water level rises. For this, facilities in government schools, as well as community health centers, have been improvised.
