An alert has been issued in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the Uttarakhand as a precaution in view of the possibility of pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh entering the state, the state’s Director General of Police Ashok Kumar has said.
DGP Ashok Kumar said that the police are conducting intensive checking on the borders of all three districts and other areas. Significantly, all three districts of Uttarakhand have been affected by terrorism in the 90s, he added.
Amritpal Singh has been decamping for the last seven days since Saturday, even as the Punjab Police has undertaken a massive search operation to nab him. The pro-Khalistan preacher escaped the police when they thwarted his convoy on Saturday in Jalandhar and escaped on a motorcycle.
