Kainchi Dham Mela 2024: Over 1200 Police Officers Stationed; Five Lakh Devotees Expected

In anticipation of the Kainchi Dham Mela, expected to draw a crowd of five lakh devotees on June 14 and 15, the district administration has mobilized a substantial security and traffic management force. More than 1200 police personnel and officers, including reinforcements from the Police Headquarters (PHQ) and Kumaon Range, will be on duty to ensure smooth operations.

DIG Yogendra Singh Rawat announced the comprehensive security plan, highlighting the deployment of 2 Additional SPs, 3 COs, 8 Inspectors, 46 Sub Inspectors, 16 Lady Sub Inspectors, 343 Constables, 50 Lady Constables, and 12 Traffic Police personnel from Nainital district alone. Additional support includes 3 COs, 12 Inspectors, 72 Sub Inspectors, 300 Constables, 100 Lady Constables, and 26 Traffic Police personnel from the Kumaon Range. PHQ has further supplemented this with 2 Additional SPs, 2 COs, 2 companies, and 1 platoon of PACs.

To manage the expected influx of devotees and ensure security, heavy vehicle movement will be halted from June 14 until June 15. Vehicles heading to Almora, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar will be rerouted through Ramgarh. Only essential service vehicles will be allowed during this period.

Police personnel will be on duty from 11 am on June 14 until 11:30 pm on June 15, stationed at strategic points to manage traffic and maintain security. This massive deployment aims to provide a safe and orderly environment for all attendees of the Kainchi Dham Mela.
