On Wednesday, residents of Dehradun and the surrounding plains experienced intense humidity until afternoon, when strong showers arrived, easing the heat. The heavy rainfall not only provided respite but also led to a notable drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures compared to the previous day.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Dehradun dropped by 1.3°C, settling at 34°C, while the minimum temperature decreased by 0.5°C to 24.7°C. Today, the minimum temperature is expected to fall further by 1.7°C, though the maximum is likely to remain around 34°C.
A yellow alert for rainfall has been issued for eight districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Uttarkashi, and Rudraprayag. These areas can expect moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, with wind speeds reaching 30–50 km/h.
The department has cautioned residents to stay alert as the weather is likely to remain unpredictable today, with localized storms and intense showers possible across different regions of the state.
