As the annual Kanwar Yatra commences tomorrow, Uttarakhand authorities have announced major traffic diversions in Kashipur and Rudrapur to facilitate smooth passage for pilgrims and uphold public order. The yatra, which sees thousands of devotees (Kanwariyas) traveling on foot and by vehicles, demands extensive logistical planning and crowd control measures.

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Niharika Tomar outlined the alternate traffic plans. In Kashipur, all vehicles carrying Dak Kanwars will travel via Manpur Road, Stadium Tiraha, Cheema Chowk, Jasupur Khurd Road, and Chaiti Chauraha. Normal traffic will be rerouted through Bailjudi Mod, Mandi Chowki, and Tanda Tiraha. Importantly, no vehicles—other than those of Kanwariyas—will be allowed between Stadium Tiraha and Bailjudi Mod on the Kanwar route.

Devotees arriving from Thakurdwara-Moradabad will be directed from Mandi Tiraha via Bailjudi Mod and Jaspur Road. Those coming from Aliganj will take the Banskheda Khurd–Dhariyal Road–Khokhra Devi Mandir Road–Kharkpur Devipura village–Chaiti Chauraha route.

In Rudrapur, all heavy vehicles coming from Kashipur Road will be diverted via Dineshpur Mod, Gadarpur, and Pantnagar through Jafar Pur Mod. Heavy vehicles from Rampur Road will follow the Indira Chowk–Jafar Pur Mod–Dineshpur–Pantnagar–Nagla Tiraha route. Similarly, vehicles from Bareilly and Sitarganj will be redirected from Aditya Chowk in Kichha via Nagla Pantnagar and Dineshpur.

Strict no-entry regulations will apply for heavy vehicles heading toward Haldwani, Pantnagar, and SIDCUL during the yatra period.

In case of crowd surges, SP Niharika Tomar informed that vehicle movement will be completely restricted at several key points including SH Hospital Sitarganj, Pulbhatta, Darau Chowk, Lalpur, Tulsi Dwar, Bagwara Mandi, Kartarpur Mod, Dibdiba Mod, and Ramnagar Border in Rudrapur. Additional restrictions will be enforced at Chhatarpur Mod (Pantnagar), Jafar Pur Mod (Dineshpur), Mahtosh and Motiyapur Mod (Gadarpur), and multiple key points in Bajpur, ITI, and surrounding areas.

Vehicle access will also be entirely blocked at Pratappur Chowki in Kashipur, Surya Border in Kunda, Dharmapur and Nadehi Borders in Jaspur.

Authorities urge the public to cooperate and plan their travel accordingly to avoid disruptions. The arrangements aim to ensure the safety of both Kanwariyas and general commuters during the high-mobility pilgrimage period.
