All food and beverage stalls operating at Dehradun Airport have been closed after the expiration of the airport authority’s notice period, leaving flyers without access to refreshments at the terminal.
According to airport sources, around 10 to 12 outlets were being operated under a tender awarded to Manish Food & Beverages. The contractor was responsible for making regular payments to the airport authority by the terms of the agreement.
However, over the past few months, the contractor reportedly failed to pay dues amounting to over ₹7 crore. Following this, the airport administration issued a 15-day notice demanding the pending amount. With no payment made within the stipulated period, the administration confiscated the contractor’s security deposit and ordered the closure of all operational stalls under the tender.
As a result, there are currently no food and beverage services available at the airport, leading to discomfort for passengers, especially those on long layovers or delayed flights.
Sources further stated that the airport is now working to initiate short-term tenders for at least three to four stalls to temporarily restore basic services. These are expected to be operational within the next three months. Until then, travellers will need to make alternate arrangements.
