On her three-day tour of Uttarakhand, President Droupadi Murmu landed in Dehradun today, where she was warmly received at Jolly Grant Airport by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Gurmit Singh. Following her arrival, the President proceeded to the city by road under high-security arrangements.
In view of her visit, security at the airport and surrounding areas was significantly tightened. Police conducted thorough checks and surveillance in nearby hotels, banks, and other sensitive locations. Security teams also carried out combing operations in forested areas adjacent to the airport.
One of the key highlights of the President’s visit is the formal inauguration of the Rashtrapati Ashiana on Rajpur Road, scheduled for June 20. The historic Ashiana, which spans 132 acres, will be opened to the general public for the first time. It includes a state-of-the-art park and a 19.5-acre section known as the Lower Estate.
This marks a significant milestone for Dehradun, as the Ashiana complex is expected to become a green and serene public space, offering long-term benefits to residents and visitors alike. The development is being seen as a major environmental and recreational boost for the city.
