Chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” reverberated through the Adampur Air Base in Punjab on Tuesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the brave air warriors and soldiers, days after India’s bold and precise response to cross-border terrorism through Operation Sindoor.
In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi described the visit as a deeply emotional and proud moment. “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister was also briefed by Indian Air Force personnel at the base, which was one of the key operational hubs during Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists.
A visible wave of pride and morale could be felt among the men in uniform as PM Modi interacted with them, celebrating the nation’s unified stand against terrorism. The base personnel expressed gratitude for the leadership’s unwavering support and operational freedom.
On Monday, Director General Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, addressed the media, affirming that the aim of Operation Sindoor was strictly anti-terror and not directed against the Pakistani military or its civilian population. “Our fight is with the terrorists, our fight is not with the Pakistani military or Pakistani civilians. We are very clear in our targeting,” said Air Marshal Bharti, reiterating India’s commitment to ethical military conduct.
He added that India’s indigenous capabilities and air defence systems proved their might and precision in the operation. “It has been demonstrated that no matter what kind of technology emerges, we are prepared to counter it. You have seen with your own eyes the consequences we have delivered,” he stated.
In his national address on Monday, PM Modi declared that the Indian Armed Forces — including the Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, and paramilitary units — are on constant alert and have been given full freedom to eliminate terror threats. Referring to the devastating attack on April 22, he said:
“Every terror organisation now knows ki hamari behano, betiyon ke maathe se Sindoor hatane ka anjaam kya hota hai.”
He added, “After the surgical strike and the Balakot air strike, Operation Sindoor has now become India’s definitive policy against terrorism. It has carved out a new benchmark and a new normal in our fight against cross-border terror.”
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, involved coordinated air, land, and naval strikes on multiple terror camps and air bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated, and 11 key air bases were hit, causing significant damage to hostile infrastructure while ensuring minimal civilian harm through calibrated targeting.
PM Modi’s visit to Adampur served not just as a morale booster for the armed forces, but also as a reaffirmation of India’s resolute stand: zero tolerance towards terrorism and a clear message to its perpetrators – India will strike back with precision, power, and purpose.
